Obama Raises $25 Million
By Lowell | April 4, 2007
There’s lots of commentary in the progressive blogosphere about Barack Obama raising $25 million in the first quarter, on par with Hillary Clinton. For instance:
*Oliver Willis writes that “[s]omething wild is happening” and that “the tea is in the harbor.”
*Daily Kos has “[m]ore on Obama’s numbers, from a campaign staffer.” For instance, “More than 50,000 donors gave $6.9 million online.”
*The Anonymous Liberal points out “the absurdity of the money race,” and adds:
In today’s political climate, you have to win the money race not because you need the money (at least in the primaries), but because you need the good publicity and aura of success that goes along with it. You need to raise the money not because you need it but because of what your ability to raise it says about your talent and popular support. It’s all very bizarre.
*Talk Left writes:
The question is this for me - Obama, the political rock star, raised alot of money. Obama the wishy washy pol, the one we have seen on Iraq, will he remain as popular? Will he raise as much money? We’ll see.
There’s lots more commentary at a blog near you. Enjoy!
