Still Going, Going, Gone-zales…
By Lowell | March 29, 2007
There’s continuing news about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, his former chief of staff Kyle Sampson, and “Bush’s brain” Karl Rove in the scandal over the firings of eight United States attorneys. Here’s some commentary from around the progressive blogosphere:
*At Huffington Post, RJ Eskow writes that ” new evidence is emerging that Rove was directly involved in the firing of Federal prosecutors, and that this “directly contradicts what this same Administration told this same group of correspondents.”
*At Daily Kos, Hunter says:
I imagine somewhere it might be considered funny that the entire Department of Justice can’t figure out why the hell a handful of U.S. Attorneys were fired when they themselves fired them, after spending over a year arranging for it, and that they must continually revise their statements on the matter because their past statements keep being demonstrated to be bullshit. But in that the entire premise of the Bush administration is that the entire American population is made up of morons who would actively believe that aforementioned lying bullshit, I’m not exactly sure where the joke is.
*Talking Points Memo reports that “The White House Counsel’s Office gave explicit sign off to the DOJ’s letter falsely claiming Rove and Miers played no role in Tim Griffin’s appointment as US Attorney.” Ouch.
*At Firedoglake, TRex writes, “I hope that President Pissypants cleaves as tightly as he can to his little jumped-up ambulance chaser buddy from Austin, Alberto.” TRex also points out that this morning, “we’ve got roly-poly little Karl Rove Wannabe Kyle Sampson testifying before Congress.”
Is Alberto going, going, Gone-zales? Or will Bush hang onto him for dear life? We’ll find out in coming weeks; stay tuned!
