Is Dick Cheney “Insane?”

By Lowell | February 24, 2007

That’s what many Democratic and Progressive bloggers are wondering after the Vice President for Waterboarding and Other Medieval Torture Techniques said, “If we adopt the Pelosi policy [on Iraq], that then we will validate the strategy of al-Qaeda.” Here’s a sampling of the reaction:*Booman says “Cheney is unhinged. He must be restrained.”

*Taylor Marsh writes, “if we’re talking about validating al Qaeda, let’s say that Dick Cheney has not only validated al Qaeda, but inspired them to new heights of villiany.”

*Talking Points Memo recommends not falling into Cheney’s trap, writing:

Why complain about anything Dick Cheney says? The man is simply too big a fool to hold any job of responsibility in the national government. Think of his history of failure, terrible judgment, reckless endangerment of the country. It’s hard to imagine that there’s anyone in this country not under active federal surveillance who has done more to advance the al Qaeda agenda than Dick Cheney.

*Crooks and Liars asks, “Could any human being possibility have less credibility for commenting on an Iraq plan than Dick Cheney?”

*And just for fun, here’s what the GOP wingnuts at Red State have to say on the subject (cover your eyes if right-wing propaganda raises your blood pressure to heart-attack-inducing levels!):

Time is long overdue that Pelosi, Murtha, Levin, and their fellow travelers were called out on the consequences of their actions. They are acting against the best interests of the US and her allies in the region and they are acting in concordance with the wishes of our enemies. You are left with only two choices for their actions, they are either knaves or poltroons. We must make sure they own the consequences of their words as well as owning the consequences of their actions.

Did I mention the word “insane” yet?
